The VA Paving team is one of the most forward-looking companies on today’s roads. They constantly search for the best crew members, the best equipment, and the best technology to help them do their jobs safely, on time, and in style. Which originally drew them to Traffic Pro Beds. After delivery of their original bed, the usage and organizational benefits became a necessary part of their operations…There was one problem, it was too small. This is why when VA paving purchased a new mid-sized truck designated to be an MOT, they needed something bigger and more versatile.

Meeting Their Need

After a planning conversation, it was apparent that maybe the standard TPB design with two sign/stand boxes might not be the right fit. However, we’ve got a bed for that. Enter the Half-Stake. The best of both worlds’ design allows a crew to work with, in, and out, easily, safely, and with multiple configurations to handle any need. VA Paving also needed something that they haven’t seen, an over-the-cab arrow board. Oh, and a deadline for the beginning of July.

It was time to go to work. And the result:

A Traffic Pro Bed unique to their need…A 400 Series Half-Stake Model, with the first of many Over the Cab Arrow Board bracket. What makes this one of the most exciting and versatile TPBs on the road?

The Features

Design

High-Grade Steel Stake Fencing surrounds ¾ of the bed, and hinged pieces of stake fencing, opened either inward or outward, whatever might benefit the crew. The stake fencing can also be removed and stored at the headboard. On the driver’s side of the bed, the stake fencing can be folded down and remain folded down during an operation or effortless loading of materials.

An Over-The Cab Arrow Board Bracket sits snuggly between the cab of this truck and the TPB headboard. This bracket is designed to last and take on state-mandated thresholds for wind resistance. Further, this bracket is positioned over the cab, making sure it will be no crew member’s figurative or literal headache.

The 4′ Sign Stand Box on the passenger side of the bed allows for access and organization of signs, keeping them out of the elements, and be accessible from the side of the truck.

A Class 5 tow hitch gives VA Paving all the towing power it might need.

Safety

Wanco Arrowboard, when fully extended, can be seen above the Sign Stand Box, giving motorists ultimate visibility and warning to move over.

30′ of V98 Orafil Chevron tape from Orafol gives the ultimate reflectivity in both full light and low light, making this bed stick out and stay bright, catching drivers’ eyes without flashing lights.

360 Amber flashing lighting on the sign stand box creates visibility, approaching from the side or behind the truck.

Coupled with our standard lighting package and our premium ground lighting package, the crew and motorists will have every advantage to see and be seen, helping avoid missteps and other potential hazards.

The little safety details like spring-loaded latches give crew members a purposeful action, knowing latches and hinged pieces of stake fencing are appropriately secured.

Yellow non-slip paint outlines the working deck area, bumper, and steps inside the personnel buckets, giving crew members a sure footing in their duties.

VA Paving will remain OSHA compliant with Traffic Pro Bed’s patented safety restraint system, which can be utilized when Personnel buckets are in use and fit tightly to the headboard when not.

And an ECCO Back up camera will allow the operator to see behind them during operations when backing up or in preparation for towing.

Thank you to VA Paving, returning customers, to once again trust Traffic Pro Beds with their service bed needs. We look forward to supporting you and promoting safety and efficiency.
