Meet Ed Jones.
Ed is one of the busiest people we’ve ever met. He’s busy not in self-interest but service. Ed’s service extends to a community of over 900,000 and his entire team at the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (PG DPW&T). Ed expects the best because he knows only the best will keep his crews and the average citizen moving freely and safely.
Ed’s commitment makes sure the tools needed for success are at his team’s fingertips. Very early on, Ed identified Traffic Pro Bed’s patented features as essential needs to accomplish varied goals in the county. Since acquiring their first Traffic Pro Bed, the PG DPW&T’s team found themselves utilized more and more, and their second bed will meet those needs further and then some…
Here’s what makes PG-2 part of such a critical mission:
#IConeConnected: See that grey box featured in the middle of the headboard? That’s I-Cone, a technology integrated into TPB’s flashing amber lights. While the amber’s visually signal an active operation, Icone allows users of apps like Waze and Google Maps to be alerted of an active traffic control operation, well ahead of where activated lights are available.
Safety at a glance: An Ecco Gemineye Reverse camera system will allow crews to monitor traffic and back up more efficiently. With the display integrated into the rearview mirror, a driver will never have to divert their eyes abnormally, promoting continued safety at any stage of an operation.
New Bed, Old Chassis: Like Godfather II, PG-2 has its own place in the franchise, and while PG-2 is brand new, the chassis is an old friend. The chassis which PG-2 now sits has a former life as a cone setting truck, but with PG-1 being totaled (Read the case study about this strike here.) PG DPW&T was able to repurpose this chassis for PG-2. PG-2 is an excellent example of fleet optimization, especially with chassis being in such short supply.
Prince George’s County and its crews have set an example here, which begs, how can we all be a champion for safety like Ed?
